What is CBT-I?

CBT-I stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). It is very effective and is recommended on the NHS website about insomnia. Research suggests CBT-I is effective in 70-80% of people to improve time taken to fall asleep, increasing total sleep time and reducing awakenings.

What is insomnia?

Insomnia is a sleep condition. It means you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or waking up too early and being unable to get back to sleep again, on a regular basis. It is a sleep issue that is affecting more and more people and if left untreated can cause more serious physical and mental health issues.

Frequently asked questions

We all suffer with a bad night’s sleep occasionally, however, to be classed as insomnia, the person must take at least 30 minutes to fall asleep, wake for at least 30 minutes during the night, or wake at least 30 minutes earlier than their ideal waking time. In addition, the person must report feeling tired or have some impairment during the daytime following the sleeping problem. It is classed as ‘chronic insomnia’ when this happens at least three nights a week and has been going on for at least three months.

If you think you are struggling with sleep consistently, then do get in touch with us or reach out to your GP, as there could be an underlying medical issue.

In a 1-to-1 session, either online or in-person, we will discuss behavioural and cognitive changes to help you improve your sleep, based on CBT-I  treatment https://troublesleeping.co.uk/what-is-cbt-i/ . Client feedback

Dr Browning produced an engaging virtual workshop for my team. It was insightful and informative with tips that you could implement immediately to improve your sleep. She explained the science behind why somethings help to aid sleep and why others hinder it. Knowing that she is highly qualified to give this advice is extremely reassuring as well. I would 100% recommend Dr Browning as the "go to" for getting sleep advice.

Dr. Lindsay Browning gave a free webinar talk on sleep for the charity Home Start Bracknell Forest as part of their "help your child..." series. It was brilliant, informative and engaging. We all sleep but she explained the science behind sleep, providing lots of practical and useful tips and strategies for parents. Thoroughly enjoyed her talk and would have no doubt in recommending her as a sleep expert!
